We also introduce you to the NEW digital 'Performance Profiler', a must for any teacher wanting to work with their students to assess and develop their sports performance.

Announcements

  • As a teacher you will have undoubtedly noticed that Olympic euphoria has spilled into political commentary with a number of recent announcements concerning school sport. So if you are in need of inspiration look no further than the Tacklesport website, or better still ask us for help - that's what we are here for!

  • Olympic Legacy - John Steele, Chief Executive Officer at the Youth Sport Trust, has said that in order to 'inspire a generation' the government need to look to investing in teachers, school sport professionals and young leaders who will turn an inspired generation into an active generation. • In partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, Matalan Sporting Promise (with resources developed by Tacklesport) supports Sport and P.E. activity in schools and is committed to getting more young people taking part in more sport. Click here to find out more.

It is important for P.E. teachers to effectively evaluate the factors that contribute to overall performance. The digital performance profiler, as seen below, can be used to evaluate pupils' performance by identifying key elements (via a 10 point scoring system) in a variety of contexts e.g. an individual sport specific profile, a team performance profile or a competition profile.

The Performance Profiling tool is included FREE! as part of Fitness & Health. It is also available for purchase as an individual software tool in its own right for only £6.00!

'In the past I have subscribed to many other resources. The real-rugby-sense aspects of your drills & program I believe are so much more productive & educational for not only young lads - but senior grade players. I love the way the drills are so active thus enabling all participants to play an important role in the teams/drills outcome.' Darren Young, NSW Australia

 For the Staffroom

  • Darts in the staffroom! With news that a former public house in Swindon has been turned into a school is it time for staff through-out the land to get into the ‘games’ spirit and re-launch their staff darts and bar-billiards teams?

  • Short of a warm-up idea for your next P.E. lesson - Try 'Benchball'. The aim of the game is for pupils to try to pass 3 times and throw the ball to the target player who is stood on the bench in order to score. This is an outstanding game for refining movement and passing skills.

Pupils finding it too easy? Try decreasing the size of the grid to limit space, or increasing the space to make passes longer; use smaller balls to improve hand/eye co-ordination; vary the type of pass i.e. chest, bounce, overhead; introduce a time limit for scoring when in possession.

  • And remember - KISS - Keep It Short and Simple! Keep questions precise and deliver no more than 2 key short and simple to understand teaching points at a time.

Don't delay; order your resources for secondary P.E. and Sports teaching today! In addition why not recommend our software to a friend - and receive 15% off your next purchase. Simply ask your friend to tell us that you recommended them and when they order we will send you your credit note!

Yours in teaching,
