New Display Item~The interactive lesson planner offers teachers and trainees an opportunity for planning, for implementing ideas, for sharing good practice and, with registration as a member of the Session and Lesson Exchange, an opportunity to earn rewards in the form of equipment, goods or further lesson and/or session plans from other members.
The planner has a 2 dimensional structure, plus a further extended qualitative dimension through the possible addition of 'own school based' media. Key features include opportunities for:
- A lesson starter and plenary;
- Inclusion of key questions posed to promote thinking skills and engagement;
- Links to learning styles;
- Use of ICT to develop key concepts and key skills within physical education;
- Use of assessment evidence to determine where pupils are in their learning, where they are going and how they might get there;
The model used not only allows for the inclusion of the four aspects (acquiring and developing skills, selecting and applying skills, tactics and compositional ideas, evaluating and improving performance, developing knowledge and understanding of fitness and health) but for learning objectives to focus explicitly on certain aspects.
In the exemplar provided ('Swimming - Development') a pupil's learning focus is on knowledge of fitness linked to stroke development. As part of the learning process learners are also required to select and apply technique for the skill and evaluate and improve their own and others work. Engagement however, (tasks, questions, discussions) is focused on the aspects of fitness & health and acquiring & developing skill.
