New Display Item~The Interactive Session Planner offers Coaches an opportunity for planning effective sessions, for implementing ideas, for sharing good practice, for moving towards appropriate coaching qualifications and, with registration as a member of the Session and Lesson Exchange, an opportunity to earn rewards in the form of equipment, goods or further session plans from other members.
The planner has a 2 dimensional structure, plus a further extended qualitative dimension through the possible addition of 'own practice based' media. Key features include opportunities for:
- Session warm-up and cool-down;
- Inclusion of key questions posed to promote mental skills and engagement;
- Links to learning styles;
- Use of ICT to develop key concepts and key skills within sports coaching;
- Use of evaluation material to determine where participants are in their development, where they are going and how they might get there;
This unique model not only allows for the inclusion of key elements essential for effective coaching (the development and application of technique and skill, advancement in knowledge of tactics and strategy, and improvement in physical and mental components) but for session and learning objectives to focus explicitly on specific aspects.
In the exemplar provided ('Rugby Union - Developing Attacking Options from the Back Row') a player's learning focus is on developing knowledge of tactics and strategy linked to key skill development. As part of the learning process players are also required to select and apply appropriate skills, to understand the physical demands of this element of the game, and to apply appropriate mental skills. Engagement however, (tasks, questions, discussions) is focused on the aspects of appropriate back row attacking options and the necessary skills for successful execution.~~~2238~2239~~
