What should my screen settings be for best viewing of the Animated Skill Drills?
Double click on "Display" in your "Control Panel" and click on the "Settings" tab. Here you can set your screen size and colour settings. Ideally you should view the software with screen resolution set to 800 x 600 or 640 x 480 for full screen presentaion. Select the highest colour setting your monitor will allow. 32 bit or higher is ideal. You can view the product in 256 colours but some screens become unclear at this setting.

Do all of the titles work on both Mac and PC platforms?
All titles are currently available as PC only versions. However it is possible to run this software on a MAC using "Virtual PC" or the latest Macs running an Intel processor

Problems and Known Issues.

Opening the software

Clicking "Animated Skill Drills" from the menu screen gives an alert box showing "Director Player Error - Property not found #duration".
To resolve this problem you need to install the relevant version of QuickTime. This is provided as part of the program (not included with download version) and can be installed by selecting the following path:Start > Programs > 'name of sport' > Tools > Quicktime. Alternatively visit apple.com to get the latest version of QuickTime

Follow the on screen instructions, relaunch the program and the preview panels will display the miniature animations. NB: If offered the opportunity to search for existing versions of Quicktime on your system, select 'Skip'. This will install the correct version along any existing versions and will not affect the performance of you PC.

Clicking any preview movie from the selector screen crahes the program and closes it down.
The cause of this error is not known however there is a solution which is found to resolve the issue.

Open the QuickTime Player (Start / Programs / QuickTime / QuickTime Player.
Click Edit and scroll to Preferences - scroll across to QuickTime preferences.
Select the Advanced Tab (far right) Half way down you will see the 'Video section' check the box marked "Safe Mode GDI only"
Click Apply and OK. Restart the software.

I received an error message "Unable to load library shell 32.dll".
DLL stands for Dynamic Link Library. 32.dll is required to operate this program and this message means that your computer is unable to locate this file. It may be missing from your computer (erased by accident for example), or it may not be present in the place where the computer is looking for it (moved by accident).

This error can be remedied by running a system check (E.g. Norton System Works or Windows own checker) which will reorganise the files into the correct directories. If this is still not fixed the problem, you may need to re-load your operating system in order to ensure all the necessary files restored to their original locations.

"This program requires at least 3Mb of Virtual Memory to run"

Virtual memory should not be confused with standard PC memory. The ASD titles actually require very little memory use, however on some XP machines this problem may occur.

To rectify this problem XP users should go to: Start / Control Panels / Performance & Maintenance / System - select the Advanced Tab / Performance - Click settings / Click advanced Tab / Virtual Memory - Click change / Adjust the Initial and Maximum sizes e.g. Inital = 1500, Max = 3000. This will often ask the system to reboot and usually solves the problem. You may need to repeat these steps and reboot your PC manually for the changes to take effect.

NT users shold log on with administrative rights

Unfortunately this error relates to the setup of your PC and how you logon on as a user. You need to be have, or be given, full access to the PC before you install the software.

We have only had a couple of instances of this and in both occasions the simple answer was to contact Microsoft Technical Support and use their support system to help you resolve the issue with your PC. A good starting point is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308418/en-us - from here you may be given the opportunity to contact Microsoft with your specific problem/solution.

This issue is related to operating software (XP) and NOT commercial software such as ours.

Problem opening C:\\xxxxxxx\TEMP

This problem relates to XP machines believing the software is trying to write something to the C drive (this is not the case), and on some machines with administrative permissions this may cause an error. By clicking OK the software will continue to load and run correctly. This error has no adverse affect on the running of either your PC or the software.

Blank output when printing

Blank or garbled output from PrintOMatic and PrintOMatic Lite for Windows is almost always a result of two factors: 16-bit colour depth, combined with out-of-date or poorly written print drivers, particularly drivers for Hewlett-Packard printers. The problem sometimes occurs with systems set to 32-bit colour, in addition to 16-bits.

Nearly every problem with printing true colour images or screen shots with PrintOMatic can be attributed to out of date or flawed printer drivers. Just because other programs can print doesn't mean your drivers are OK. Part of the problem is that very few programs actually send 16-bit data to the printer. Photoshop, for example, always sends 24-bit data to the printer, regardless of the source bit depth.

The blank output problem most commonly occurs when using Hewlett-Packard print drivers to print to a black and white HP printer. We are discovering that these are the worst print drivers in the industry, with the most poorly implemented colour support. HP is virtually the only manufacturer whose drivers have colour printing flaws that cause PrintOMatic pages to come out blank.

PrintOMatic is one of very few programs that actually send data to the printer at the source bit depth, which for many people running Windows 95 and NT happens to be 16 bits per pixel.

Over the past couple of years, most driver developers have finally stepped into line with 16-bit image data support. As a result, getting the latest version of the drivers for your printer will usually solve the 'blank page' bug when printing true colour images with PrintOMatic.

However, many HP print drivers, especially drivers for their black and white printers, still contain the colour printing flaws described above.

If your drivers are new, but still refusing to print, setting your screen depth to 8 or 24 bit colour will often fix the problem as well.

Using the software

The six preview windows to the right of the skills selector are blank, not containing any miniature animations.

How do I print out from the CD-ROM?
Print-outs may only be done from within each of the individual animations. When in the animation player, click once on the "Coaches Pad" icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. When the pad appears, you will see a Printer icon in the bottom right corner of this window or at the bottom of the dropdown menu depending on your version of software. Click once on this icon to obtain a print out of this practice.

I cannot see the practices well enough in the small window, can I get them full screen?
You can build your playlist by previewing the practices in this miniature format. To do this, select a catogory from the 10 provided on the left of the screen, move the cursor over the green playing area of one of the six windows. After a short while the animation will start playing.

If you would like to add that animation to the playlist then click on top of the movie and the number beneath it will change colour. This means that you have added it to the list. You can go to another animation and do the same. Each of the ten sections has anything from 15 - 45 animations. The rest can be viewed by clicking on the next or previous arrows beneath the six windows.

When a blank window appears, there are no more animations to be viewed in that section. You can add animations from any of the ten sections to your playlist. When you have finished selecting the animations for your playlist, click on the LOAD button and this will take you to the Animation Player where the animations will appear full screen, in the order in which they were selected.

I cannot get the animations to work once I've loaded them full screen?
Click once and release, on the leading edge of the red square/circle slider control. This starts the animation and the slider moves from left to right. You can stop the animation at any time by clicking on top of the red slider whilst it is in motion. Alternatively wait until the animation finishes and then click on the slider and hold the mouse button down and drag it back to the left.

The animations have also been designed to work using the click, hold and drag technique that allows the user to view the animations at whatever speed they choose. To do this, click down onto the red slider and hold the mouse button down whilst you move the slider to the left of right. With a little practice you will soon learn how to control the animations using this method, and this will give you the options to freeze frame, and to slow motion in both directions.

Can I load up all of the drills in one section?
When you pass the cursor over a specific area from the list in the Skills Selector (e.g. Passing and Receiving in Soccer), a coloured circle will appear to the left of the button. If you click on the button, except over the coloured circle, the first 6 animations will load into the six display windows. If you click on the coloured circle, all the animations in that section will be loaded into the playlist and the program will take you directly to the animation player.

How do I make my selections in a more structured way?
You can make your selection in a more structured way by going to "The Training Session interface". You can access this interface by clicking the "Training Session" icon in the top right corner of the Skills Selector.

A training session can be built up of any number of Skill Drills from each of the windows (e.g. warm ups, individual skills, groups skills, games). You select the animations in the same way as in "The Skill Selector". Move the mouse over the green window and when it starts moving then you can make that selection. Note that you can view a wide range of animations in each window by using the arrows beneath the window to change the animation on the screen. After you have selected your animations from each of the windows, click on LOAD and the animations will be placed into the Animation Player.
